Vegas Trip

Lots to do to get ready for the Vegas trip/wedding vow renewal.  I can’t wait to go. I’m getting very excited.

In other news, we received the wedding invite from Matt and Sunny over the weekend.  We are looking forward to that trip as well.  The wedding location and reception hall look fabulous! I can’t believe it has a carousel right in the middle of the place.  How cool is that?  The beach location for the wedding looks so wonderful with the lighthouse in the background.  We were going to write that we regretted we could not attend the wedding on the response card, but thought that would have created too many heart attacks since we are the wedding photographers….so we didn’t do that.

Today at work the phone and Internet service went down for about 5 hours.  That made for an interesting day.

Word of the Day: Performa.

Show of the Day: J&J

Quote of the Day:  "I would rather poke my eye out with a….with a….well, I rather just not do it"

Stuff

What a good weekend!  Went shopping with mom, watched movies, cleaned, did laundry, laid around.  I liked that part.

Saturday was the 2nd anniversary of Riffie’s death. I miss that little puppy.  She was such a good dog.

We are making the final arrangements for vegas.  We have the chapel, the rooms, dinner reservations for reception, grand canyon van, and ideas for other fun stuff to do.  I’m not going to plan all sorts of stuff so everyone coming can "do their own thing" as they want.  I figure those that want to can see a show Saturday afternoon or night.  I want to ride the roller coaster.  I may gamble a bit.  I want to walk the strip at night and see the shows from the sidewalks (water show and Treasure Island show).  I think that will be fun.  Then Monday we have the full day trip to Grand Canyon and then we come home!  Boooo.  I am so happy that everyone is going to be there.  We are going to have a fantastic time!

How we met

Many of you have asked about the story of Barry and Sharon.  So here is my story and I am sticking to it.
I met the wonderful Barry Ardrey while on vacation in Florida to visit my parents.  I was there with Annie and we had sworn off men for the trip. (God has a sense of humor).

My dad told me about this young man that lived across the street. He was new in town and my dad felt I should "show him around town" for the evening.  Just to be nice. So, Annie and I said yes, reluctantly.   Little did I know that this Young Man’s father was telling him to show Annie and I around as we were new to the area as well. (I had lived in Naples for 3 years).  So, My dad calls his dad and they basically set us up.  George Ardrey brings over his son Barry to meet us and as I walk out to the lanai to say hello (politely, not at all interested in him), I hear the "voice".  Ok, so I hear voices!  Get over it.  Anyway, this voice in my head said "that is the man you will marry!"  I was shocked!  I ignored that voice

Anyway, we go out with barry for the evening.  My favorite line of the night was uttered by Annie when she said (when barry was out of earshot)  "All we need are the chips, the dips already here!"

Well, barry and I had a lovely week and we spent a lot of time together. But when it was time for me to leave, I told myself I would not contact him again.  Remember, I had sworn off men.  But Barry was consistent.  He called a lot.  I found myself not swearing off him.  But I told him we would only be friends. (remember, God has a sense of humor)

Before long we had racked up thousands of dollars of long distance bills, air fare, and gas money visiting each other.   After 8 months of long distance "friendship" (who am I kidding), barry called late one night, December 20th to be exact, and asked me to marry him.  Yes, it was over the phone!  I thought he was kidding, but he told me he was on one knee!  I accepted.

Barry moved to Pittsburgh and we began our life togehter.  He was unemployed so I actually had to purchase my first engagement ring.  That is why on our 5th anniversary, he presented me with another engagement ring that he bought and asked me to marry him again, right in the middle of Garcia’s restaurant.  I said Yes of course (I figured I had sworn off men long enough).  I thought he was just being cute by asking me to marry him again. However, he had a notary waiting in the restaurant and all the staff were in on it too. We got up, went into the lobby and renewed our vows right there on the spot!  Too cool.

That is when we came up with the idea that we should do that every 5 years.  Renew our vows as a reminder of what marriage is all about.  It is easy to forget that you promised to love, honor, cherish this person that leaves dirty clothes on the floor and doesn’t clean up dishes, or perhaps folds the towels all wrong.  By taking those vows again, you can’t help but remember why you love this person with all your heart.  And the towels and dishes and laundry are the small things.  I love God’s sense of humor!!!  Thank you for giving me Barry…he is the love of my life.

Busy days

Work has been crazy again.

so much to do!

Work has been way to busy.  I thought I was busy before.   I don’t have time to breathe anymore!  I get home with neck pain and back pain.  As I type this, my eye is jumping, which means it is stressed.  I hope it slows down soon.  But it won’t. I know this.  With a new software program being installed, a new network going in, document imaging beginning, my tests coming up, training needs to be done, oy.  I shouldn’t have typed it.  It seems even worse in b&w

Well, on to the good stuff.  Got home and had enough energy to do a Tae Bo stuff.  Barry even joined me.  Mary invited me over on Saturday with mom for her birthday lunch, dinner is almost done, buster and sock and tom are cute. Barry loves me. My family love me. I have friends that love me.  Good.

And, on July 30th, we are going with friends to see the Elvis show at the Phil.    And we can’t forget that Vegas is a mere 4 weeks away!

Hurricane Update

Good news for SWFlorida, bad news for the panhandle.  Dennis moved more to the West so we only got wind and rain.  Although areas around us did see a few tornadoes.  Still nothing as fierce as a Hurricane.  Had to … Continue reading

Hurricane Dennis

I put this under the title of Adventure as I think we are in for one. Although it doesn’t look like a good Adventure, it is still an Adventure.  We hope this stays offshore as presently predicted.  However, the one … Continue reading

4th of July

Excellent Day. No words needed to explain the day.

On to other things:

I am ready to let go.  I see the way it is and I know it will not change.  Some people are like Pitt Bulls.  I’m not going to stay in the dark as others have done.  I say to them….don’t live in the past. Let go already.

You are wished love and good things.  God Bless.

Vegas

All is now set for the Vegas trip. So many people we love will be there. Totally cool. Rooms booked, air booked, wedding ready, Grand Canyon trip bought and paid for.  As we mentioned before, but in case you missed it, the Grand Canyon trip is our gift to all who are so kind to come with us on this trip.  Thank you for being there with us at this special and fun time.  See you in August!

July 4th Weekend

Sheikra Was Amazing!  Best Roller Coaster ever.  Scary, but so much fun. It rained most of the day at Busch which made it a fantastic Day at Busch.  Not many people and no lines for many rides. Great time.

We got home early and rented movies and ate pizza. Fantastic day on Saturday.

Sunday was movie day. We watched 4 total. 2 Rentals and 2 at the theatre.  We say Star Wars Ep III and Batman Begins at the theatre. At home it was Hostage and some random Stevel Sagal movie. Ick.  But the others were great and the day was quite a success.

Today is Monday and I will be taking mom shopping for a new couch. After that it is picnic time and resting all day. Yea!
