Adam is doing much better. The Pneumonia is gone and he is smiling and happy. The transplant surgeon has been in to see him and wants to schedule the surgery for this month. The doctors are allowing Amy to take Adam “home” while waiting for the surgery (home is a hotel near the hospital). They have to keep it as clean as possible and not allow anyone in to see the baby. Amy is a partial match for the bone marrow and will be used if a better match is not found soon. The doctors are extremely hopeful that this procedure will work.
The family has now setup a non-profit fund for the transplant donations through COTA.ORG, the Children’s Organ Transplant Association. We will have a website for donations soon. COTA will pay any expenses related to the transplant that insurance does not cover. Our volunteer team will do everything we can to pay COTA back for the costs. The family is looking for volunteers to be part of our Adam COTA team. Our first meeting will be September 23rd. We need people to deliver donation boxes to local businesses, send letters, collect the donation boxes, etc. If you would be willing to help, please let me know and I will get your information to the family. I am the trustee for the COTA fund for Adam and I could sure use some help.
Thank you everyone for your help and prayers during this difficult time for Adam and his family.
