Scary, Isn’t it?

I lost my driver’s license last week. Well, I think I know where it is, but I can’t go there to look for it since it is in someone else’s home.  I had it in my pocket last weekend when we went to a Halloween party.  I didn’t have it when I came home. I think it fell out of my pocket and is somewhere lodged in the sofa in their living room. They couldn’t find it, so I decided to go and get a new one this morning.

I was the firs person at the Driver’s license bureau. I figured this was going to be quick, easy, and painless. I could not have been more wrong.  The clerk was friendly and helpful, but his computer was not working.  Once he finally got the computer to work, the camera would not work so he couldn’t take my picture.  He finally got the camera to “work” and took my picture.  I put work in quotes because I don’t think the cameras at the DMV work properly.  I believe they are made by the same people that make the mirrors at the fun house at the local carnivals.  It can not be possible for me to look THAT BAD!  If I looked like my driver’s license photo, people would scream and run away as soon as they saw me!  (oh, wait…never mind).  Lets move on.

Once my picture was taken and all the questions in the computer had been answered twice, (I had to answer twice since the computer crashed again in the middle of the process) it was time to pay.  That is when I noticed the “no VISA” sign.  I thought that meant you couldn’t use a travel VISA to get a new license.  No, that meant you had to have cash, check, Mastercard, or American Express to pay for your license.  Crap.  I only had my visa card and a $20 bill.  Since the total was $31.25, I couldn’t pay.  The nice gentlemen let me leave and run to the bank up the street to take out the necessary funds to pay for my new driver’s license with a picture of some jowled-face-distored-clown on the thing.

I returned about 5 minutes later with the cash and got my lovely new card.  I would show you the picture, but you would start running and screaming and that would not be good for anyone.  Oh, what the heck…here you go!

Just kidding, but this is close!
